I have no problem with hunting. I don't do it, because it does not interest me, and I don't really like gamey meat. What passes for "hunting" these days, though, I consider "harvesting." If you entice the animal to a specific place through regular feeding, then you are harvesting. One day you just show up in said place with a gun and kill one of the animals. Hunger and the promise of an easy meal brings the remaining animals back even after the death of one of their brethren. True hunting isn't about the weapon you use to kill the animal, but the skills involved in giving yourself the shot at it. Calling the animal to you with a call or rattle or something involves skill. Tracking the animal or discovering it's habitual movements requires skill. That's true hunting.

In some parts of the world, hunting is sometimes needed to prevent overpopulation. Though I personally think there are more humane ways to deal with that problems, I understand that not everyone cares as much or is prepared to invest time, money and other resources in another solution. Hunting for pleasure however is one of the most sadistic things people do. And I wouldn't mind jail time for those kind of cowards.
